HI All I tried to look on the forum for the signs and symptoms of the illness of my Ford but no real joy. My mondeo mk4 2008 2.0tdci has some starting problems, there are days where it start without problems at all, like a new car, but from time to time after few starts there is a dodgy one, it c
I had a 2003 Ford Focus 1800 TDCI Duratorq come in with a hard start issue from cold. Once it was warm it would start great every time. No DTC s stored and live data showing good pressure generation. Checking amps on the injector harness confirmed commencement of injection too.
I have a 2003 1.8 tdci focus 115. Had it 8 months now but as it started to get colder I noticed it becoming worse and worse starting on cold mornings, to the point where you would turn it over and it would almost start then stop, this needed to be done (at worse) 8 times before it would eventually fire with a bloom of smoke out of the back.

Came to start car at work the other day all I got was clicking and instrument and indicator lights flashing in synch. Got a bump start and drove home usually 12 miles of fast roads but did a few extra to boost charge. Spare battery put on charge just in case

My wife has a 2003 Model Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI. Since she bought it in August there have been problems with starting from cold. It does not do it all the time, however trying to start it results in the engine trying to turn over, however not starting for several minutes. The Focus has had its glow
Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI cold start problems. Typical start up process in sub-zero temperatures. Takes several attempts to start (making a lot of smoke in the process, not caught in the video).
Name: Jan. Ford Model: Focus mk2 1.8 TDCi. Ford Year: 2007. UK/Ireland Location: Other/NonUK. Posted May 27, 2021. My 2007 1.8 TDCi had very similar problem. It always started but the revs dropped or the engine even stalled, especially going backwards after starting. The fix was incredibly easy, it is the EGR malfunctioning and choking the engine!
